Women's Basketball Continues To Dominate

The women's basketball team continued their Region III dominance with back to back wins over the weekend. They now move to 12-0 on the season. They are outscoring opponents by 28 points per game and are currently ranked 5th in the Division III NJCAA Rankings.

On Saturday, the Lady Raiders hosted the Jefferson Cannoneers who are in 3rd place in the Region III standings. FMCC earned a 78-43 statement win.

The Lady Raiders jumped out to an 11-6 1st quarter lead after holding Jefferson to just two points for most of the quarter. Abigail Lombardoni sparked an 11-0 run to start the 2nd quarter. Andie Gannon converted on a three point play to go ahead, 26-12.

Jefferson got the hot hand from three point range, to trail 32-20 at the half.

It was all FMCC to open the third quarter as they outscored the Cannoneers, 27-12. Gabby Langley closed out the quarter with a three and the home team led, 59-32. Kiya Marquez settled the Lady Raiders in the 4th quarter to cruise to the victory.

FMCC grabbed a season high 64 rebounds in the contest and are now averaging 47.8 boards a game. Andie Gannon finished with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Marquez with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Makenzie Smith and Lombardoni had 11 apiece.

On Sunday, The Lady Raiders traveled to Tompkins Cortland Community College. They cruised to an 80-34 win and were led with 17 points and 12 rebounds from Andie Gannon. Kiya Marquez had a big day tallying a triple-double with 10 points, 10 assists and 15 rebounds. Lombardoni and Smith each had 16.

FMCC will travel to Sullivan Community College on Tuesday, January 31st. The game is set to tip off at 6:00 p.m.
