Lady Raiders Move On To Region 3 Semi-Finals

The Women's Basketball team advanced to the Region 3 Semi-Finals with a win over eighth-seeded Tompkins Cortland on Thursday night. The Lady Raiders defeated the Panthers, 82-56.

FMCC got off to a slow start in the 1st quarter. Abigial Lombardoni had the hot hand for the Lady Raiders and FM led 14-4. The Panthers outscored the Raiders, 9-2 over the final two minutes of the quarter and trailed 16-13.

The Lady Raiders turned it up on the defensive end in the 2nd quarter. They closed out the quarter on a 12-2 run and led 42-28 at the half.

FMCC opened the second half on a 19-2 run and put the game out of reach for the Panthers. The victory clinched home court advantage for the Region 3 Semi-Finals.

Lombardoni led with 25 points. Makenzie Smith recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds. Andie Gannon had 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Kiya Marquez finished with 13 points and 7 assists.

FMCC will now host the remaining games in the Region III Championship Tournament. They will face #5 North Country in the Region 3 Semi-Finals on Saturday, February 25th. The game will take place at 1:00 p.m.

#2 Onondaga will play #3 Jefferson in the second contest at 3:15 pm on Saturday.
