The Fulton Montgomery Women's Basketball team was selected as the #2 seed in the 2023 NJCAA DIII National Championship Tournament. The Lady Raiders are making the trip back to the Championship Tournament for the first time since 2004.
The Lady Raiders have earned themselves a first-round bye and will play in the Quarterfinals on Thursday, March 16th at 7:00 p.m. EST. The game will be played at the Rochester Regional Sports Center in Rochester, Minnesota.
FMCC will take on the winner of the #7 Riverland vs. #10 Dallas Mountainview match-up that is being played on Wednesday, March 15th at 5:00 p.m. EST.
The Riverland Blue Devils (Austin, Minnesota) have a 21-5 record and won the Region XIIA Title on February 26th. The Dallas Mountainview Lions (Dallas, Texas) won the NJCAA Division III South Central District championship and are ranked 15th nationally. They finished the season with a 12-7 record.
The Lady Raiders are riding a 21-0 undefeated record. They won the Region III Championship over Onondaga, 84-45 on February 26th.
This will be the third trip for Head Coach Kevin Jones, but first time back in 19 years.
"We are excited to get the #2 spot for the national tournament. Now it is go-time and everyone is a contender or they wouldn't be there. Scouting and watching video now and preparing for anything thrown at us," stated Coach Jones.
