The FMCC Raiders bowling teams competed this past weekend at the RIT Tiger Cup bowling tournament. FM was the only two year school in attendance and bowled against the likes of Penn St., Cornell, RIT, and Georgian University of Canada.

Once again it was mixed reviews for the Raiders.  The Men's Varsity finished 6th overall. The Lady Raiders finished third. The surprise of the tournament was the FMCC Men's JV team.

After two days of competition, the JV team was seeded last and faced the daunting task of taking on the RIT JV, who was seeded first and finished some 1,100 pins ahead of FM. Under the format for this tournament, total pin count goes out the window and it is a best two out of three Baker game format to move on to the Championship.

FM held their own in the first game losing a close game, 166-164.  The Raiders came roaring back with a powerful 208 game to defeat the favorites by 50 pins.  In the final game, the score remained close throughout and FM pulled off the upset with a powerful tenth frame, defeating RIT 195-181.

FM would then move on to bowl against Cornell for the Championship.  The Raiders went back and forth with Cornell in the first game, losing by 8 pins, 203-195. Then in the next game it once again came down to the tenth frame and Cornell barely edged the Raiders 158-156 to claim the Championship. Bowling for the FM JV was Isaac Nguyen, Mike Hughes, Brandon King, Brandon Little, and Andy Sitterly.

The Raiders will now take a couple of weeks off to prepare for finals. The next tournament will be the Corning Classic on December 9th.
