Utica, NY – FM's volleyball team defeated Cayuga, lost a heartbreaker to Onondaga, and bowed to Jefferson in Pod play on Saturday. The multi-school event was hosted by Mohawk Valley CC. FM's season record is now 6-6.

The Raiders got off to a good start by outplaying the Lady Spartans of Cayuga CC.  FM won in straight sets 25-17, 25-13, and 25-21.

FM then lost a heartbreaker to Onondaga CC, winning the first and third sets but losing the fifth set. The set scores were 25-19, 17-25, 25-21, 24-26, 8-15.

The Raiders' final match of the day was with SUNY Jefferson. The team from the northeastern shore of Lake Ontario won that one 20-25, 21-14, and 16-25.

Head Coach Rachael Salvione was quite pleased with the team's play. She stated, "The ladies played the best volleyball I've seen all season. We have three girls with some injuries that need healing; they played in pain all day."

The team has a busy week ahead.  They will host the Word of Life Institute at 6:00 p.m. on Monday and Columbia-Greene CC at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squad will then travel to Herkimer CC for another Pod event on Saturday.
