Johnstown, NY – The Mohawk Valley Lady Hawks visited the Raiders Den on Wednesday evening. FM rolled past the visitors in straight sets, winning all three sets with the identical scores of 25-13, 25-13, 25-13.

The Raiders took the early lead in the first two sets and cruised to wins in both of those tilts.

Elizabeth Hayward opened the evening with a first-point kill in Set One. A Sarah Wyzomirski kill made it 8-4 in FM's favor, and two Whitney Ostrander blocks made it 9-4 and 10-4. A skillful set by Shelbey Lyons upped the score to 15-9. Taylor Wetsky's kill doubled the score at 20-10. Another kill by Liz Hayward ended the set at 25-13.

FM's pace and control were the same in Set Two. The Raiders took the first two points with Lyons serving. Emily Robinson killed the ball for a 3-1 lead. Ostrander's kills gained FM's 19th and 20th points. A Wetsky kill and a Wyzomirski kill earned the 23rd and 24th points. The Raiders finished the set with another 25-13 win.

The Lady Hawks scored some early points in the final set.  In fact, Mohawk Valley garnered their only lead of the night when they went ahead 6-5.  Then the Raiders got their game in gear.

Gabrielle Hale's ace made the score 8-6. Wyzomirski won two points in a row with a kill and a service ace. 10-7, FM. Ostrander also earned two consecutive points with a block and a well-placed dink. FM led 17-9. Wyzomirski killed, and FM led 24-13, and then Wyzomirski's positioning seemed to intimidate the Hawks into hitting into the net for the set-and-match point.

The win raised FM's season record to 9-9. Their next outing will be in one week when they host Herkimer CCC on Wednesday, October 16. The first serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
