FM Volleyball Still Ranked Third-Best in Region

JOHNSTOWN - The results of the weekly Region 3 coaches' poll were announced today, and the Lady Raiders are still ranked third-best among the 18 teams in the region. Jamestown and Niagara are the #4 and #5 teams. FM has defeated both Jamestown and Niagara this season.

On Saturday, FM went head to head with the #1-ranked team, the 23-0 Lady Tribunes of Monroe CC, on Monroe's home court. FM and Monroe showed equal abilities, and each team won two of the first four sets before Monroe pulled away in the final set.

Monroe is still ranked #1 and SUNY Adirondack is ranked second. The Lady Timberwolves are sporting a 19-2 season record. FM has lost only twice this season -- once to Adirondack in FM's season opener and, last Saturday, to #1 Monroe.

FM will get the chance to play Adirondack again in pod play at Herkimer CCC on Saturday, October 18. Also, the Raiders and T-Wolves may meet again on the following Saturday in the Mountain Valley Conference Tournament, which will be hosted by Adirondack.

FM's next outing will be on Wednesday, October 8, at Mohawk Valley (2-17). The Lady Raiders will return to their home court to host the Word of Life Bible Institute in a non-conference and non-regional match on Monday, October 13. The first serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
