FM Volleyball is Mountain Valley Conference Champions!

FM Volleyball is Mountain Valley Conference Champions!

The last time FM Volleyball was Mountain Valley Conference Champions was eighteen years ago, when FM's current Head Coach Rachael Salvione was a freshman on the squad.  In 1997, FM volleyball was crowned Conference champs and now the 2015 FM Lady Raiders have brought the crown back to the Raiders Den.

The Raiders matched up against Herkimer in their last home match and senior night for Miranda Eagan and Kaylee Robinson.  Not only did FM win the conference, but they did it in undefeated fashion.  This 2015 team has played their best volleyball in conference play and hopes to continue that in the post season.  FM won the match 3-0 by scores of 25-16, 25-12, and 25-18.

In the first set the Raiders got off to a quick start by scoring six straight points back behind solid service points from Carly Howe.  Miranda Eagan scored on a kill to start another six point rally for FM and make the score 12-1.  Herkimer scored six more points of their own to cut the lead to 14-8 before FM was able to answer.  Jordyn Hale made an impressive dig to put FM ahead 23-14 and Jenna Putnam finished the set with a point of her own and a 25-16 win.

The second set started off with kills from Miranda Eagan, Emily Orminski, and Jenna Putnam.  FM got out to a quick 14-5 lead and a block from Carly Howe.  The Lady Raiders cruised on to win 25-12.

In the third set Herkimer put more pressure on FM, but not enough to win the set.  FM was able to answer with great defense and communication and went on to win 25-18 and crowned 2015 Mountain Valley Conference Champions!

This was the last home match for FM.  The regular season ends Saturday with the Final Pod Play when FM heads to Hudson Valley Community College.  The Raiders look to stay hot in post season
play.
