Volleyball Wins 5th Straight With 3-0 Sweep, Ranked #1 in Region III Coaches Poll

The Lady Raiders Volleyball squad continues to impress as they went on to beat Hudson Valley CC 3-0 and improve to 9-1 on the season.  FM has now been ranked #1 in the Region III Coaches Poll for the week of September 13th.

In the first set, FM dominated there way to an early 9-3 lead, but the Vikings were able to make a run on a few communication errors from the Raiders.  Hudson Valley outscored FM 7-2 to tie the score at eleven.  Both teams battled point for point until Gianna Cruz scored a kill and gave FM the momentum 20-18.   FM scored the final five points to win the set 25-20.  

In the second set, HVCC jumped out to an early lead, but Emily Orminski and Jenna Putnam got things rolling for FM and tied the score at twelve.  Ruverlyn Marrero scored an ace to go up 21-17 and Miranda Nethaway was able to close out the set with a 25-20 win. 

FM played well in the final set as Megan Ryder scored a point to go up 13-7.  Nethaway finished the match strong with multiple spikes and closed out the night with two kills to lead the Lady Raiders to a 25-16 win.  

Miranda Nethaway led the Raiders with 10 kills and Gabrielle Smith led the team with 18 assists. Brittany Orminksi had 16 digs and Marrero and Putnam had two aces each.

FM will travel to Corning CC on Saturday for POD play.  They will compete against Tompkins Cortland, Broome, and Corning.
