Lady Raiders Finish Second at Jefferson Invitational Tournament

The Women's Volleyball team started their 2017 season at the Jefferson CC Invitational. In pool play FM played Herkimer, Cayuga and Monroe. 

Game 1-FM defeated Herkimer with scores of 25-19, and 25-18.
Gabrielle Smith: 22 assists, 4 digs and 1 service ace
Megan Ryder: 14 kills, 1 ace, and 13 digs
Bri Eagan: 7 kills, 2 aces and 11 digs
Raina Danylak: 3 kills and 2 blocks
Aspen Darling: 6 digs, 4 kills and 1 assist
Julie Hampton: 6 digs

Game 2-FM defeated Cayuga with scores of 25-14 and 25-15.
Gabby Smith: 18 assists and 8 digs
Megan Ryder: 13 kills, 1 block and 6 digs
Bri Eagan: 5 kills, 1 block, and 5 digs
Brianna Port:3 kills and 3 digs
Aspen Darling: 6 kills, 2 digs and 1 block
Julie Hampton: 8 digs and 1 assist
Kendell Sweeney: 9 digs

Game 3- FM fell to Monroe in pool play with scores of 22-25, and 21-25
Gabrielle Smith: 21 assists, and 4 digs
Megan Ryder: 8 kills, 8 digs
Bri Eagan: 13 kills, 1 block, and 7 digs
Brianna Port: 3 blocks and 7 digs
Raina Danylak: 2 kills, 2 blocks.
Julie Hampton and Kendell Sweeney: 5 digs each

The top two teams from each pool advance to the semi-final. Monroe came in first and the Lady Raiders were seeded second. FM faced the number one team from the other pool, Jefferson, who defeated FM last season in the regional tournament finals.  The Raiders came out on top this time around 2-0 with scores of 25-19 and 25-23.

Headed to finals to face Monroe again, losing for the second time to them with scores of 20-25, and 22-25

Eagan: 4 kills, 1 block and 9 digs
Port: 1 block and 5 digs
Danylak: 2 kills and 2 blocks
Darling: 3 kills, 1 block and 5 digs
Julie had 4 digs
Kendall had 2 digs

Head Coach Rachael Salvione was pleased with her team's start to the season.  "We are off to a great start this season; I am very pleased with their level of play this past weekend.  It's nice to see the hard work from three weeks of pre-season pay off. We will focus on our areas that need improvement and get ready for our next match," said Salvione.

The Lady Raiders next match will be Saturday, September 9th when they travel to Erie CC for pod play.
