Volleyball Defeats Adirondack 3-1

The Lady Raiders celebrate a set win

The Volleyball team moved to 4-0 in conference play and 12-5 overall with a 3-1 victory over the Adirondack Timberwolves Wednesday night. The Lady Raiders dropped the first set 23-25, but bounced back to win the next three; 25-21, 25-20 and 25-17.

FM got off to a slow start in the first set as Adirondack jumped out to a 6-11 lead.  Julie Hampton had a crucial dig on a long volley to cut the deficit to 13-16.  The Raiders were able to tie it at 21, but ACC reeled off four straight points to seal the win 23-25. 

Bre Eagan got rolling in the second set and got her team out to a 14-13 lead.  FM settled in and took a 24-21 lead and Eagan sealed it with an ace to win 25-21.  In the third set, FM fell behind early, but Megan Ryder rallied her team back with her serves.  FM took the lead 22-20 with her ace, and Adirondack wasn't able to recover and suffered the 25-20 loss.

The Raiders dominated the 4th and final set as they took a 25-17 victory and won the match 3-1.  Eagan led with 27 kills and 11 digs.  Ryder finished with 9 kills and 21 digs.  Gabrielle Smith led with 40 assists.  Brianna Port had 7 blocks and Raina Danylak had 5 kills.  Aspen Darling had 4 kills and Julie Hampton had 19 digs.

The Raiders will host their Home POD Play on Saturday, September 30th.  FM will match up against Monroe, Genesee and Finger Lakes.  Matches begin at 9:00 a.m.
