The Women's Volleyball team started their 2018 season at the Jefferson CC Invitational on Saturday.  The tournament consisted of eight teams; Cayuga, Herkimer, Monroe, Corning, Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley, Jefferson and the Raiders.  In pool play, FM played Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley and Jefferson.

The top two teams from each pool advanced to the semi-final, with Monroe and Jefferson meeting up in the championship game.  Monroe went on to win the title game.

Head Coach Tina Olyer was pleased with her team's start to the season.  "With a team compromised of only two returners and five freshmen, we feel that overall the day went very well.  With pre-season coming to an end, the growth we have seen has made us optimistic for the season ahead.  We faced some strong competition today and showed potential to meet the goals we have set for ourselves.  The girls worked hard and played well together today, which will improve as the season progresses," said Olyer.

The Lady Raiders next match will be Sunday, September 9th when they travel to Herkimer College for pod play.
