Volleyball Dominates Dutchess, 3-0

The women's volleyball team picked up a big win on Tuesday night. The Lady Raiders who are currently ranked #9 in the nation, hosted the #4 nationally ranked Dutchess Falcons. FMCC dominated in the match earning the 3-0 victory: 25-13, 25-13 and 25-16.

In the first set, Lindsey Zawisa notched the score at 6-6. The Lady Raiders scored four straight points to force Dutchess into a timeout. The Falcons were able to cut the deficit to 4 points, but Grace O'Brien finished the set strong to secure the 25-13 win.

In the second set, Amber Cole dumped a set over the net to take a 5-1 lead. Dutchess made a mid-set run to trail by 6 points. Teianna Vetrano-Frasier was strong on the right side of the net and to lead the Lady Raiders to another 25-13 win.

The final set would prove to be the toughest of the three. The Falcons jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but FM would answer with 5 straight points. Defensively, FM was stellar and steered them to the 25-16 match win.

O'Brien tallied 12 kills, Zawisa with 10 and Vetrano-Frasier with 7. Jayden DeVellis recorded 11 digs and Zawisa with 8. Amber Cole finished with 29 assists.

The Lady Raiders will host POD play on Saturday, October 14th. They will take on Corning and Broome with action beginning at 11am.
