The women's volleyball team competed in the Region III Championship Tournament at Niagara Community College on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, the Lady Raiders defeated the 8th seeded Genesee Cougars 3-0: 25-13, 25-20, and 25-16. This year, with no pool play, the win would send the Lady Raiders into the Championship Game on Sunday.

On Sunday, FMCC would play familiar conference foe, SUNY Adirondack in the Title Match. This would be the 4th time this season that the two teams would play each other.

The Lady Raiders were crowned North District A Region III Champions for the second season in a row with a 3-0 win: 25-18, 25-29 and 25-17.

Lindsey Zawisa had a big match with 24 digs and 10 kills. Jayden DeVellis led defensively with 20 digs and Grace O'Brien had 13 kills. Amber Cole has 30 assists and Teianna Vetrano-Frasier collected 5 kills and 10 digs. Alaina Diffee had 3 blocks and 6 kills.

Grace O'Brien, Jayden DeVellis, and Amber Cole were named to the All-Tournament team. Lindsey Zawisa earned tournament MVP.

"The team played with incredible determination, grit and heart throughout the entire weekend and left it all on the court. This team meshes so well together, and they support each other no matter what challenges they are facing. They were going in with the goal to only play 3 sets on Saturday and on Sunday and remained focused on that goal through each set. They were extremely motivated to end the day with a 23-0 overall record. We couldn't be prouder of them. We had an amazing fan base supporting us through the weekend and an absolutely incredible welcome home from the community, fans, friends, and families leading us back to campus," said Head Coach Tina Olyer.

The Lady Raiders remain undefeated at 23-0 and will now head to the 2023 NJCAA Division III Volleyball Championship. The National Tournament will be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on November 9-11th.
