The Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence acknowledges students who have best demonstrated, and been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives, which may include leadership, campus involvement, community service, creative or performing arts, athletics, and career achievement. This year's award was presented to FM's Kira Williams.

Kira is a December 2020 FMCC graduate and was an exceptional student-athlete. She had an outstanding 2020 season for the Lady Raiders Cross Country Team. Kira is a member of Phi Theta Kappa member and has achieved Deans List every semester with a cumulative GPA of 3.85.

Williams was named Mountain Valley Conference Champion and the NJCAA Region 3 Cross Country Champion.  She finished the season undefeated and took home the Region 3 crown on October 31^st, 2020. She is a 2020 NJCAA Academic All-American, Region III All- Academic team, and NJCAA National Athlete of the Week.

Since graduating, Kira has moved to North Carolina where she has been accepted into the Animal Science program at North Carolina State for fall 2021. Her hope is to graduate and then attend NC State's Veterinary University. She is currently working full time as a veterinary assistant.
