Men's and Women's Basketball Fall to Mohawk Valley

The Men's and Women's Basketball teams traveled to Utica on Saturday to take on the Mohawk Valley Hawks, who are always a tough conference opponent.  The Lady Raiders lost 58-70 and the FM Men's team suffered a 77-94 loss. 

In the women's game, the Lady Raiders jumped out to a 36-34 lead at the half, but Mohawk Valley outscored FM 20-9 in the 3rd quarter and the Raiders were unable to recover.  My'eesa Grant led the Raiders with 20 points and 18 rebounds.  Moet Jenkins had 13 points and 10 assists, and Rylie Smith sank 10 points for FM.  The Lady Raiders move to 14-5 on the season and will travel to Herkimer on Monday for for a 5:00 p.m. tip against the Generals.

In the second game of the double header, the FM men squared off against Mohawk Valley who is currently ranked 5th in the NJCAA DIII Poll.  The Raiders battled close with the Hawks in the first half only trailing 38-39 at halftime.  In the second half, the Hawks dominated and pulled away as they outscored the Raiders 55-39 and went on the win 94-77.  

Kerome Grant led FM with 26 points and 10 rebounds.  Nigel Hemingway sank 16 points and Dylan O'Connor followed with 10. FM now moves to 11-7 on the season and will travel to play the Herkimer Generals on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
