For the first time since 2019, the FMCC student-athletes and coaches gathered on Thursday, May 7th to celebrate another successful academic and athletic year. Each coach had the opportunity to acknowledge the Raiders for their many accomplishments on the playing field and in the classroom.
The academic athletes of the year were honored. The female and male Academic Athletes of the year were soccer's Lindsay Hampton and golf's Kade Kirby.
The female Athlete of the Year award went to volleyball's Macey Salvione. The male athlete of the year was presented to men's basketball Joseph Rowback.
Soccer Coach Dave Clayton and Volleyball Coach Tina Olyer were honored for being named Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year.
Adnan Ahmed of the Men's Basketball Team was honored for receiving the SUNY Chancellor's award. It is the highest honor bestowed upon a student by the University. Nominations are sought for students who have best demonstrated and been recognized for their integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives including leadership, campus involvement, community service, arts (creative or performing), athletics, and/or career achievement.
Adnan has been a very involved student at FMCC. He was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa in May 2020 and received the Norman R. McConney, Jr. EOP award for academic excellence and strength in overcoming personal obstacles in October 2020. Adnan was also named one of 20 EOP Student Ambassadors across the SUNY system. He holds a 3.37 GPA in his major of business marketing.
