Baseball Drops Weekend Series Against Herkimer

The Raiders Baseball squad would take on the Herkimer Generals in a four game series in what would be picture perfect baseball weather.  FM traveled to Herkimer for two games on Saturday and the Generals traveled to FM on Sunday for another double header.  FM dropped the 4 game series to the Generals.

In Game 1 the Raiders fell to Herkimer CC 4-0 at Herkimer Community College.  Herkimer scored two runs in the first inning when it scored on an RBI double by Patrick Dorrian and an RBI single by Petar Rumora.  The Generals scored another run in the fourth and sixth inning.

Patrick Hart couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Raiders, taking a loss. He lasted six innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.  Ryan Cullam had the only hit for FM.

Despite a big day at the plate for the Raiders who scattered 12 hits, they came up short losing 11-5 to the Generals in the 2nd game of the double header. 

Paul VanWarner took the loss for the Raiders on the mound. He lasted 4 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed five runs.  The top of the first saw FM take an early lead, 1-0. Boyles doubled to start things off before Ryan McNamara doubled, bringing home Boyles.

Herkimer scored two runs of its own in the first. Herkimer scored on an RBI double by Lanning and an error.  The Generals didn't relinquish the lead after scoring four runs in the second inning when it scored on two singles.

One run in the top of the fifth helped the Raiders close their deficit to 8-5. An RBI single by VanWarner fueled the FMCC Raiders' comeback. Herkimer stopped the rally and scored in the 5th and added two more in the 6th to win 11-5.

The Raiders bounced back on Sunday as they hosted the Generals at Raiders field.  A tight game was decided in the eighth inning as the FMCC Raiders fell to Herkimer CC 11-6 in extra innings on Sunday.

Ryan McNamara reached base two times in the game for the Raiders. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the second inning.  Kyle Agresta took the loss for FM. He allowed 11 runs in 7 1/3 innings, walked seven and struck out three.

The top of the first saw Herkimer CC take an early lead, 2-0.  The Raiders responded with two runs in the second, on a solo home run by Ryan McNamara and an RBI double by Patrick Hart.  

The Generals scored a run in the 7th, but it didn't take long for the Raiders to answer, as they scored one run of their own in the seventh. The FMCC Raiders scored on an RBI single by Agresta.  Herkimer CC went up for good in the eighth, scoring five runs and besting the Raiders in extra innings.

The Raiders lost the final game of the series 13-1.  Jake Petralia had a hot bat for the FMCC Raiders. Petralia went 1-2, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning. Esteban Martinez was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed 11 runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out two.  
Herkimer never trailed after scoring two runs in the second on an RBI double by Brandon Hubbard and an RBI single by Mike Bastis.  Herkimer increased its lead with four runs in the third and added seven more runs in the top of the fourth.  The FMCC Raiders managed to score one run in the fifth inning on a solo home run by Petralia.

FM's next contest will be Saturday, April 23rd at Adirondack CC.
