Raiders Soccer Battles against Broome

The Broome Community College Hornets invaded the home field of the Raiders on Saturday afternoon.  The Hornets beat the Raiders by a final score of 6-0 behind a solid effort from Coach Leggiero's squad.

The game got off to a quick start with a Broome goal with 25 minutes still left to go in the half.  Ten minutes later the Hornets were able to strike again.  The FM defense was able to hold off Broome from scoring again until 3:58 left in the first half when they upped the score to 3-0.  The FM offense got going late in the second half when Michael Mazzarella drove the length of the field and crossed the ball into the box but FM was unable to cash in on a goal.

FM started the second half playing great soccer and held off the Hornets for 20 minutes without any offense attack.  Broome was able to reel off 3 late goals in the second half to end the final score at 6-0.

The final score is not a good showing of how hard FM played.  The Raiders were also without starter Wolfgang Reinke for the entire game due to an injury.  The team remains positive and hungry for their first win of the season.  FM is off until Saturday, September 26th when they travel to play Jefferson Community College to take on the 2-3 Cannoneers.
