Raiders Strike First, but Bow To The Clinton Cougars

The FM Raiders got off to a quick start against the Clinton Cougars.  Just 59 seconds into the game Greyson Mullins scored his first goal of the season off an assist from Michael Mazzarella.  Greyson's shot was lined across the front of the net and that set the score at 1-0. "I got behind the defender and went to cross the ball, but it found the back of the net."  The Raiders found themselves shutting down Clinton and playing well on both ends of the ball.  The half ended at 1-0.

In the second half the Clinton Cougars struck back and scored two quick goals to go up 2-1.  With about 12 minutes to play and the score still 2-1 the game got delayed due to severe weather and after a 30 minute delay the game was played on.  The Cougars were able to find the back of the net two more times to end the game by a score of 4-1.

The Raiders played a solid first half of soccer.  Coach Leggerio stated; "I am very pleased with the first half, I think the boys came out ready to play.  However, the second half we could not get a hold of the game.  There is more work to be done."  Wolfgang Reinke said, "We put together a complete 45 which is good, however we couldn't finish the game, we just have to keep working."

The Raiders will travel to Wehrum Stadium on Saturday, September 12th to take on the #2 ranked Herkimer Generals (3-2, 0-1).  Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
