Soccer Keeps on Rolling, defeats MVCC 2-1. VanLoan tabbed as Region III Athlete of the Week

The FM Men's soccer team traveled to Utica to take on the Hawks from Mohawk Valley on Wednesday and once again came out on top 2-1.  The Raiders move to 4-5-1 on the season and are unbeaten in the last four games.  

Mohawk Valley got off to an early lead on FM when they scored there first and only goal 3:38 into the game.  Justin Marek answered for FM as he cashed in a goal off of a free quick 15:35 into the 1st half. The FM defense held strong the rest of the game and would not give up another goal.  Jack Albertine secured the win for FM off of a David Vandenabeele assist with 17 minutes left in the game. 

"A win like this shows true character and Coach Leggiero has created an atmosphere where we never quit," said Austin Heroth.  

Coach Leggerio can't ask from much more from his team and their fight to compete in every match.  "It says a lot about a team when you don't play your best, but you find a way to win.  To go unbeaten in four matches is a major step forward for the program," said Leggiero. 

Aiden VanLoan has had a big week for the FM soccer team and has been named Region III Athlete of the Week.  He played an integral role in the come from behind tie against TC3 where he scored two goals.  He registered a hat trick against Niagara to finish out the week with a 5-2 win.  

FM looks to continue their hot streak when they travel to Buffalo on Saturday to take on the undefeated Kats of Erie Community College.
