The men's soccer team opened up their 2018 season at home on Sunday afternoon against the Jefferson Cannoneers.  The Raiders dominated possession in the match and Cameron Biche scored late in the second half to secure a 1-0 victory.

The Raiders controlled the tempo and possessed the ball for much of the game.  FM had their best chance in the first half when Ahmed Mourad hit the cross bar ten minutes into the contest.   Both teams headed into half time tied at zero.

The Raiders had 21 shots in the game, but just couldn't find the back of the net, until eight minutes remaining in the contest.  Jean Horacius crossed a ball in the box off of a penalty.  The ball got lost in congestion until Cameron Biche was able to find the back of the net for a 1-0 lead and secured the home opener win.

"It is nice to open the season at home with a win.  We are a very young team, starting nine first year players.  I wish we could have found the back of the net more, but sometimes it doesn't work out.  In soccer, you only need one goal to win," said Leggiero.

The Raiders next contest will be Saturday, September 1st on the road at Onondaga Community College.
