Men's Soccer Falls to Herkimer Generals

The men's soccer team hosted Herkimer College on Monday afternoon. Rasheed Willis scored the lone goal for the Raiders in the 3-1 loss.

Herkimer got out to a quick start when Ali Somow scored off a Jugad Boparai assist in the 5th minute. The Generals kept FMCC Goalkeeper, Jose Atilio de Oliveira on his toes, but he was able to hold Herkimer scoreless for the remainder of the first half.

In the second half, Herkimer found the back of the net in the 56th minute. Rasheed Willis answered when he broke free but was fouled leading to a direct kick. Willis sailed the kick to the right corner of the net and cut the Herkimer lead in half, 2-1.

With 11 minutes remaining in the match, a controversial hand ball was called on FMCC in the penalty box. Herkimer scored on the PK to earn the 3-1 victory.

The Raiders move to 2-1 on the season and prepare for Jefferson Community College. FM hosts Jefferson on Saturday, September 18th. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
