Przybylowicz Leads the FM Offense in Season Opener

The FM Softball team opened up their 2016 season with a double header against Cayuga Community College.  Both team traveled to Onondaga CC to play on the turf field in chilly, damp conditions.  The Raiders offense was impressive, but it wasn't enough as they dropped both games 9-7 & 13-4.

In the first game both pitchers took a few innings to settle in and throw strikes.  Emily Towne started in the circle for the Raiders and went the distance allowing ten hits and striking out five.  FM got on the board with 2 runs in the first inning when Katie Hauser and Ashley Przybylowicz crossed the plate. Sabriana Franck stroked a double to the right field line for FM.

Cayuga answered in the bottom half of the inning with 4 runs of their own and added two more in the second.  The FM bats went quiet until the 5th inning when they scored 4 runs.  Przybylowicz got things started with a solo home run over the right field fence.  Paula Valencia, Ashley Garcia, and Sabriana Franck each crossed the plate to set the score at 7-6 and trailing by one.  In the 6th inning Przybylowicz stepped in the batters box and drilled another solo homerun to deep left field to cut the Cayuga lead to 8-7.  The Spartans would score one more run to go on to win the contest 9-7. Pryzybylowicz led game one with 2 HR and 2 RBI, Franck with a double and Towne had a single.

In the second game Emily Towne went 3 for 4 at the plate and Abby Boyer had a single and a triple of her own. Amber Richardson-Iannotti went 2 for 4 with and RBI as well.  Przybylowicz had a triple with 2 RBI, but it wasnt enough as the Cayuga offense came alive.  With the score tied at 4-4 in the 5th inning, the Spartans opened it up in the last two innings crossing the plate 9 times and the FM offense couldn't recover.

The Lady Raiders next contest will be Tuesday at Home against Mohawk Valley.  Games are set for 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
