Lady Raiders Bats Come Alive; Take Two from Adirondack

The Lady Raiders softball team combined for 34 hits at home in route to two wins against Adirondack Community College on Friday afternoon.  FM won the first game 11-2 in 5 innings and came from behind to win the second game 20-13.

In game one the Timberwolves scored 2 runs in the first inning, but the Raiders answered with 4 of their own.  Emily Towne started with a single and Abby Boyer scored her on a fielder's choice.  Megan Patterson, Amber Richardson-Iannotti, and Rebecca Shepard all followed with singles.  Ashley Garcia knocked the runners in with a double setting the score at 4-2.

Katie Hauser settled in for FM on the mound not allowing another run to cross the plate for Adirondack.  She allowed 8 hits and just one walk and was victorious on the mound.

FM scored two more runs in the 2nd inning when Towne and Hauser singled and Boyer scored Towne on a sac fly.  Patterson scored Hauser on an RBI single to set the score at 6-2.  FM would score 5 more runs in the 3rd inning as Sabriana Franck got things started with an RBI double.  The top of the order in Towne, Hauser, Boyer, and Patterson manufactured four more runs and go on to win 11-2.

In Game 2 the Timberwolves bats came alive and they scored 8 runs over two innings to take an 8-0 lead.  FM would go to work in the 3rd inning and chip away in the batter's box.  The raiders scored 6 runs in the 3rd inning.  Towne started the rally with a single and Hauser followed with a hit of her own.  Patterson hit another single to score both Towne and Hauser and Shepard scored two more on a double.

Adirondack crossed the plate in the 5th and three more times in the 6th inning.  FM got some much needed insurance runs in the 6th and 7th innings.  Amber Richardson-Iannotti put the game away with a 3 run blast over the left field fence.  Rebecca Pike had a double and scored as well as Franck and Garcia.  In the 7th inning the Raiders scored 4 more runs to combine for 20 hits in the game and crossed the plate 20 times.  FM came out on top 20-13 for a sweep of Adirondack.
