The women's softball team finally got their 2018 season underway on Wednesday.  The Lady Raiders hosted the Tompkins Cortland Panthers in a double header.  FM fell in game one, 1-0 and dropped game two, 13-5.

Sam De La Fleur went the distance on the mound for FM in game one and had a strong showing.  She gave up just two hits, three walks and struck out two in the loss. 

Tompkins Cortland scored its only run of the game in the 3^rd inning, but the FM offense couldn't get a run across. Emily Washburn led going 2-3 with two doubles and Raina Danylak had a single. 

In game two, FM jumped out on top with a 2-0 lead.  Julie Hampton singled and Gabrielle Smith bunted her to second.  Washburn scored Hampton on a single.  Danylak Scored Washburn on a single.  The Panthers answered in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own. 

The Raiders clawed their way back to tie it 5-5 in the 4^th inning.  Morgan StPierre led off with a single and Marque Pacillo reached on an error.  Washburn hit another double to score Hampton and Smith. 

Tompkins Cortland's bats came alive in the bottom of the 4^th and 5^th innings and the Raiders suffered a 13-5 loss.  Washburn and StPierre both went 2-3 at the plate to lead FM.  Hampton and Danylak each had singles.

FM's next contest will be Saturday, April 21^st when they host Finger Lakes CC.
