Abrams Jersey Headed to Hall of Fame

JOHNSTOWN – The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame has requested Lady Raider Monae Abrams' jersey to display in their Ring of Honor. FM Athletic Director Kevin Jones has honored the Hall's request, and Abrams' jersey has been sent to the Hall.

The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame (http://www.wbhof.com/) is located in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Hall opened in 1999 and is a large, modern, and impressive facility located just north of the Tennessee River, with a view of the Great Smoky Mountains.

The Hall is dedicated to all levels of women's basketball. It currently has 133 inductees, with six members of the Class of 2014 to be inducted in June.

One of the Hall's major exhibits is the Ring of Honor. The Ring display changes annually and features over 100 jerseys of the top college and high school players of each season. The jerseys hang above the Hall's back rotunda. Information about the Ring of Honor is available midway down the Hall's "About the Hall" page (http://www.wbhof.com/About.html).

Monae Abrams was a key player in the Lady Raiders' 2013-14 conference championship season. The Raiders were also the runners-up in the Region 3 championship tournament. Abrams was subsequently honored as First Team All-conference, First Team All-Region, and Third Team NJCAA All-American.

Athletic Director Jones said of Abrams and the Hall, "We're delighted that the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame requested Monae's jersey for their Ring of Honor. Monae was such a strong player in our very successful season. She played the game smartly and was able to outplay opponents who were taller than her. Her recognition by the Hall of Fame is an honor for her and for the FM women's basketball program."
