JOHNSTOWN – The Lady Raiders won their seventh consecutive game on Wednesday evening. The FM Five welcomed the Lady Generals of Herkimer CCC to the Raiders Den. FM won the contest 87-61.
The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 10-point lead in the first three minutes. Herkimer closed to 21-17 midway through the half, but FM then pulled away and controlled the rest of the game. FM led 52-32 at the break.
Evanda Redwood had a dazzling first half. She scored 19 points, including three baskets from behind the arc, in the first 20 minutes. Redwood ended her night with a game-high 25 points.
FM was shooting well and starting plays with fast breakouts. They built a 16-4 lead, but then their offense stalled for a bit. The Lady Generals closed the gap to just 21-17 midway through the opening half. FM then got their offense flying again.

Angel Gittens fed Rebecca Shepard for two. Redwood scored a three from the left side and then added two free throws. FM led 52-32 at halftime.
The second half began with a Redwood drive through the paint and a pair of threes by Silvia Vasquez Rivera and Stephanie Rice. FM led 60-36.
A three from just to the right of center by Jessica Woney got FM to the 70 mark.
Taniesha Woods' long two took her team to 80, and an 80-60 lead.
In addition to Redwood's big night, three other FM players scored in double figures: Stephanie Rice (15), Silvia Vasquez Rivera (14), and Jessica Woney (10).

The Lady Raiders are now 16-5 overall and 10-2 in conference play. Herkimer is 6-15 (3-9).
FM will now take on the two top teams in the region. On Saturday they will travel to Utica to play the region's #2-ranked team, Mohawk Valley, in a 1:00 p.m. tilt. Head Coach Kevin Jones hopes to have speedy Radasha Pope, who has been nursing a minor injury, back in the lineup against MV.
Next Wednesday the #5 Lady Raiders will host the #1 North Country CC Lady Saints.
