The women's basketball team traveled to Finger Lakes Community College for their last game of the 2017 half of their season. The Lady Raiders fell to the Lakers 72-54.
FM hung with the Lakers for most of the game, and trailed 12-16 after the 1st quarter. Shaun Smith sank a jumper with seven minutes remaining in the half to cut the deficit to 17-20. Julie Hampton gave FM its first lead mid-way through the quarter, to lead 24-23. The Lakers were able to go on a run to close out the half leading 37-27.
Diasia DeBoue and Julie Hampton closed the gap; 34-39, three minutes into the half. The Lakers pulled ahead 47-38, but DeBoue scored three points to end the quarter and FM trailed, 45-52.
The Lady Raiders got outscored 20-9 in the final quarter to fall to the Lakers 54-72. DeBoue led FM with 27 points and 4 steals. Julie Hampton followed with 15 points.
FM finishes the first half of their season with a 3-5 record and will head into the mid-semester break. The Lady Raiders will get back to the hardwood on Tuesday, January 9th when they host Cayuga.
