The women's basketball team opened Region 3 play on Saturday against Onondaga Community College. The Lady Raiders got off to a fast start but could not hold on and suffered a 74-66 loss.
FMCC jumped out to a 19-8 first quarter lead. Niaimani Marshall extended the lead 25-9 to open up the second quarter. The Lazers offense came alive and went on an 11-0 run to trail by just two points; 30-28. Kendra Lavery scored five points to close out the half and FM led 35-32 at the break.
Onondaga found the hot hand from three-point land to start the third quarter and took a 40-37 lead with 8:40 left in the quarter. The Lazers would not trail again and closed out the quarter leading 53-49.
Marshall drilled a three with 3:30 remaining and FM trailed by just four points. Onondaga drilled a three with a minute remaining and put the game out of the for FM.
Hasijna Gaddy finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds and Marshall had 17 points and 6 assists. Kendra Lavery followed with 11 points.
FM will next host Adirondack on Saturday, November 16th at 1:00 p.m.
