The women's basketball team opened the post-season at home on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Raiders hosted the Corning Red Barons in the Region 3 sub-regional match-up. The home team used a balanced offensive attack to defeat Corning, 82-43.
FMCC was clicking on all cylinders, as they started the game on a 9-0 run. The Lady Raiders went into half-time leading Corning, 47-22. Harmony Philo had 16 points in the first half and Sarah Emanuel-Norwood with 12.
In the second half, FMCC extended their lead and had nine different players hit the scoring column. Kiarra Kennedy, Harmony Philo and Sarah Emanuel-Norwood all had 19 points apiece. Djenaba Ndiaye had 8, Caroline Iannotti with 7, Shanna Bliss with 5 and Katie LaGrange netted 4 points.
With the win, FM now advances to the Regional Quarterfinals on Tuesday, February 22nd. The Lady Raiders will travel to Jefferson Community College to take on the #3 seeded Cannoneers. The game is set for 5:30 p.m.
