
The women's volleyball team began their 2024 season on Saturday. The Lady Raiders hosted Niagara and Erie in Region 3 play. FMCC took care of business and won both matches in straight sets.
Against Niagara, FM defeated the Timberwolves 3-0; 25-4, 25-7, and 25-6. Alaina Diffee, Grace O'Brien and Haley Tomlinson each led with 7 kills. Jayden DeVellis led the way defensively with 8 digs and Tomlinson also tallied 4 digs and a team leading 9 aces. Amber Cole ran the offense with 21 assists. Allie Salvione had 4 aces and Marisa Dygon had one block.
In the second match of the day, The Lady Raiders took on Erie. They handled the Kats in 3-0 fashion: 25-11, 25-10 & 25-14. O'Brien finished with 10 kills and 6 digs. Haley Tomlinson with 6 kills and 7 digs, Salvione with 5 kills and Diffee with 5 kills. Cole tallied 26 assists and DeVellis with 10 digs. Dygon and Alyssa Cieszynski each collected one kill.
The Lady Raiders will continue their home stand this week as they host SUNY Adirondack on Tuesday, September 10th and Dutchess on Friday, September 13th. Both matches are set for 7pm in the Raiders Den.
