Raiders Come Up Short Against Herkimer

The FMCC men's basketball team fell to nationally ranked Herkimer, 76-68 on Wednesday, January 17th. FMCC sits at 8-3 overall and 7-2 in Region 3 play.  

The Raiders came out hot in the first half, leading 18-9 at the mid-way point in the first half. Schumel Shepherd would extend the lead 28-13 at the five-minute mark. The Generals would reel off 9 points over the final three minutes of the half and the Raiders led 34-26 at the break.

FMCC shot 44% from the field in the first half. Kennyh Hardeman led in the first 20 minutes with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Herkimer came out of the gates in the second half on a 6-2 run. Donovan Rodriguez scored to stop the run, but The Generals answered and gained the lead 40-39 for the first time in the contest, with 15 minutes remaining.

Hardeman would score six straight points to cruise back ahead, 52-50 with 10 minutes remaining. Herkimer would hit back-to-back threes to re-gain the lead for good.

Hardeman finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Nahjhime Kirton tallied a double-double as well with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Shepherd would round out double figure scoring with 12 points to go along with 8 assists.
 
The Raiders will head to Quincy Community College on Saturday, January 20th at 1 p.m.
