The Men's basketball team was coming off a big 102-64 season opener win against Kingsborough. On Wednesday night they wasted no time and were dominant once again in a 94-49 win against Columbia-Greene at home.
Max Pritchett got the Raiders out to a quick 4-0 lead with a steal and back-to-back lay-ups. Columbia-Greene would take their only lead of the game at the 15-minute mark when they drilled a three. FMCC responded with a 20-5 run and found themselves leading 44-18 at the half.
The Raiders outscored the Twins, 50-31 in the second half to secure the victory. FM had a balanced attack all night with Cam Flinders leading the way with 16 points, 6 steals and 5 assists. Colbyn Draper added 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Matej Gasevic added 11 points and Johnardo Turner with 10.
"I am happy with where we are right now. A new team with only two returning players, a lot of freshmen, from a lot of different places. With that must come some patience from me as a coach, things are going to take a little time. But the good news is we have a great group of kids that want to learn, listen, and put in the work. Tj has been doing a great job building good defensive habits in practice, Scotty and Aidan get the bench going and we just want to improve game by game. We have 8-9 guys capable of double-figure scoring on any given night and we love the type of team chemistry we are building," said Coach Ej Gallup.
The Raiders improve to 2-0 on the season and are back in action at home on Wednesday, November 13th. They will tip-off at 6pm against Clinton in the Raiders Den.
